Welcome

This is the home of the Dit ‘n Dah Morse Code Library. Dit ’n Dah is a small part of a much larger project. The Mr. Morse project is a large umbrella project for all the Morse code programs and libraries I’ve written or plan to write. As of right now Dit ’n Dah is the first (and only) subproject of Mr. Morse.

Background

I have been interested in Ham Radio for years, but I never really did much about it. In 2005 I finally took the opportunity, learned Morse Code, took my Extra Class exam, and have loved it!

While learning Morse Code I wished for a computer program to help me. With the Ham Radio community being so helpful and open I expected to find many Open Source projects that would fill this need. I did find some programs, but the good ones were not free and the free ones were old.

Shortly after starting my Morse Code journey I started writing a Morse Code program called Mr. Morse in C++. In the last couple weeks I decided to resurrect the old code and finish the program. The GUI portion of the code is pretty complete, but the core needs some work. Anyway, that project is for another repository.

Since getting into the Python programming language I have wanted to create something Python specific for Morse Code. That is where this project comes into play. This project aims to provide a Python Morse Code library that will hopefully form the base for other programs.

Project

Many thanks to github.com for hosting my repository! This site will serve as the basic home for this project. From here you can browse the source repository and see the project status. Release downloads are available on Sourceforge from here

Contributing

I gladly accept code contributions. Please push your changes to me via email (isaac [at] wagnerfam {dot} com) and I will review and integrate the changes.
