Wordpress Integration
Ideas and/or questions regarding integration with Wordpress will be listed here.
- Several plugins now exist to enable posting of messages from within Wordpress to Identi.ca and Laconica servers. This is a Wordpress plugin requirement, but perhaps we can promote the idea to existing plugin developers to duplicate for OMB servers. Example: Laconica Tools.
- OMB has the benefit of using existing themes like the default Prologue for Wordpress. It would be great to expand this list of themes where OMB has successfully been tested/modified to include a magazine style theme at minimum. A great start would be the excellent (and free) magazine theme The Morning After by Arun Kale.
- a great advantage OMG has to Laconica, related to customization of themes, is the ability to display related content in a sidebar. OMB is exhibiting typical widget capabilities in the sidebar, but it’s not clear yet what can be accomplished. Ideally, OMB will enable at minimum: display of RSS feeds from alternate sources (related content), Google Adwords or related ad code, plugins or widgets that enable display of “recent members” with avatar and related enhancements.
- existing OMB code enables creation of categories by the site host and then users are encouraged to “tag” posts to fit these categories. This is tagging, i guess, but it limits the ability of users to choose their own descriptive keywords. Ideally, tags created in the post-form will appear in the sidebar versus categories and the Admin will have the ability to customize their display (as per Wordpress widgets).
