Application Ideas
Here is a list of ideas for utilizing the SoundCloud API. Feel free to comment and add your own ideas!
Desktop apps
- Setting up a way for letting users access private tracks by submitting their email addresses.
- An uploading app that let’s you drag-and-drop any sound file to push it to the cloud & decide who has access to it.
- A file system plugin (fuse?) that lets you mount your SoundCloud account and add files to it by dragging and dropping.
- A little radio cloud (or maybe a dashboard widget) that plays music from your dashboard and/or the hotlist. It could show comments popping up while music is being played.
- A plugin for an audio editor letting you bounce files to the web from within the editor.
- A notifier that lets you know when your uploaded track has been processed and is available.
- A feed style app similar to Twhirl for Twitter where you can monitor your dashboard and listen to tracks right from your desktop.
- SoundCloud player plugin for Boxee, Plex, etc. so you can have tracks running on your home media center.
- A Tweetdeck-style app for running the SoundCloud dashboard on your desktop.
- Investigate possible ways of building export to SoundCloud into the operating system (i.e. like export to YouTube in Quicktime).
- Audio blogging inspired by http://audioboo.fm/.
- Upload from yousendit link using AP
- A Skype Contact you can send a track to, which will upload the sent track to your account. The Skype contact could also query you for Meta Information in an ELISA-styled chat procedure.
