pg_proboscis and pg/python 2.x
pg_proboscis reached a reasonable stage of maturity, but with Python 3 and the desire to integrate the “pg/python projects” into one, it was hard to justify further improvements. Development on 2.x projects has pretty much come to a stop, but bugs will still be fixed as they appear until Python 2.x is generally deprecated.
Due to API changes, Python 3, and relocated modules, code written for pg_proboscis is incompatible with py-postgresql. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I feel that the integration and the release of Python 3.0 has offered a very appropriate point to cut backward compatibility and implement much needed improvements.
