Wayground is a website platform/system based on Ruby on Rails.
Wayground is intended to integrate a variety of functions:
- CMS: Content Management System. Managing web pages, files, pictures, etc.
- CRM: Contact Relation Management. Managing information about, and communications with, groups of contacts.
- Democracy Tools. Gathering and sharing information about politicians, political parties, government representatives and legislation.
- Advocacy Tools. Online petitions, polls
- Calendaring.
- Resource Sharing. Managing items that can be borrowed, especially in a library context.
Wayground is being developed to support various social change-oriented websites. Of particular note is the Calgary Democracy project aiming to increase access to information about politicians, political parties, government representatives and legislation, as well as increasing public dialogue and engagement.
