Description: A Cocoa app for editing hidden Safari 4 Beta settings

Not everyone is comfortable in a terminal environment.

Tweaky lets you edit hidden debug options in Safari 4.0b from a simple Cocoa app. These options include:

  • Moving the tab bar from above the URL bar to below it.
  • Restore the blue loading bar behind the URL from Safari 3.×.
  • Turn off the new URL autocompletion feature.
  • Turn off the new Google auto suggest menu.
  • Remove CoverFlow from the Bookmarks view.
  • Disable Safari’s new Top Sites feature.
  • Disable Top Sites’ ‘dim on select’ animation.

After downloading the file, unarchive and mount the disk image. There is no need to drag the application to /Applications; Tweaky will happily run from the disk image without installation.

Tweaky has been tested on a MacBook Air running Mac OS 10.5.7 and a white MacBook running Mac OS 10.5.6 against Safari 4.0 Public Beta (5528.17). While there were no instances of unintentional data loss during testing, Tweaky is provided without warranty of any sort. I’m not neither a Windows developer or user; there will be no Windows port.

This project will become open source with version 1.1; I want to clean up and refactor first.
