Welcome to the CPANHQ wiki!
CPANHQ aims to be a community-driven, meta-data-enhanced alternative to such sites as http://search.cpan.org/ and http://kobesearch.cpan.org/ . Currently, the functionality is very basic, but we have great ambitions.
Some of the current and future features are:
- Pages for authors, distributions, releases.
- User accounts for logging in.
- A feed of recent releases.
- Extracting the following meta-data from the module:
- Licence.
- Version control repository.
- Mailing list.
- Homepage.
- Keywords/labels/tags.
- User-contributed labels/tags.
- Blogs, Comments (?)
- Screenshots / Screencasts / etc.(?)
- JavaScript/AJAX goodness – sortable tables, AJAX, tabs, Dynamic HTML, etc.
- search.cpan.org-like Search.
- Support for http://perl.net.au/wiki/Finding_a_Module_on_CPAN/Module-Rank
- ּRatings.
- Wiki pages.
- Perlmonks.org chatterboxes for every distribution. (?)
Ideas
- if you plan to use “meta data”, then maybe look at RDF or Topic Maps
