Trubanc is an anonymous, digitally-signed vault and trading system. Like Loom, it allows anyone to issue assets (digital currencies). Unlike Loom, which relies entirely on (very good) obscurity for security, Trubanc’s digital signatures allow the bank and the customer to prove to each other that they agreed at a particular time on their balances. It does this while allowing destruction of transaction history for closed trades. Trubanc will initially provide server-based trading. Eventually, it may provide digital checks and bearer certificates. These, however, WILL require permanent storage of transaction history (or at least until their expiration date).

You need a usage token coupon from me (or another account holder) to open an account. Email bill at billstcliar dot com, and I’ll give you some. Note that mine is a test and development server in Arizona, USA. Store real assets there, and you may well lose them. Also, my client provides no security. Your passphrase travels over the net in cleartext. But it’s not hard to run the client on your own PC (instructions not written yet, but it’s a very simple PHP webapp). Hopefully, there will be real Trubanc servers with real assets real soon, hosted in countries that respect your financial privacy.
