<h3>Prerequisites</h3>
<p>This requires that Poolparty has access to EC2. Find out how to set this up at [[Setting up ec2]].</p>
<h3>1. Create the manifest</h3>
<p>Create a clouds.rb so it looks like this, making sure to set your keypair correctly and save it in the current working directory (pwd):</p>

<p>In the terminal, change into the static_apache_site directory and type <code>cloud start</code> and press Enter. This will launch a new instance with Apache listening on port 80.</p>
<h3>3. Test the instance</h3>
<p>Once your new instance is provisioned, you’ll see a message saying “Your cloud has started” followed by the instance’s IP address. Copy and paste it into a browser and you should see the words “Hello world!”</p>
<p>You’re now running a simple Apache site on EC2 launched by Poolparty!</p>

<p><strong>Note:</strong> Don’t forget to shut down your instance with <code>cloud terminate</code> when you’re done testing!</p>
